TAO occurs:

Exclusively in individuals with a history of tobacco exposure of any kind, including smoking, chewing, or snuff.
Mostly in individuals between 20 and 40 years old.
More commonly in men.
In those with a history of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
